Community Clean-Up Day! 🚮 Do you have a bunch of stuff you need to get rid of? Have you noticed trash or bulk items accumulating in the area? Help us - help you - clean it up! We'll have bulk refuse trailers set up throughout the neighborhood all weekend long! We'll have trash bags and gloves for those of you who request them, as well. They will have 3 courts: beginner/intermediate in the Youth Center, and 4 courts intermediate/advanced in the Dome. All courts will be indoors. Lemonade Day Borger is coming SOON! We are actively looking for sponsors, and most importantly, MENTORS, to help assist our youth with the program. 🍋Are you asking yourself, "What is "Lemonade Day?!"... Well, let us explain. Lemonade Day is a fun, experiential program that teaches youth how to start, own and operate their very own business - a lemonade stand. Lemonade Day is a practical way to enhance a child’s learning, explore their entrepreneurial spirit, and foster a growth mindset. Lemonade Day gives them real-world experience on building, operating, and maintaining a business. 🍋What does a Lemonade Day Mentor do? A mentor helps inspire and lead a child through the steps of the program. You help them set a goal, make a business plan, work the plan, and achieve their goal. WE provide the tools, support, and materials they need to have a great mentoring experience. 🍋There are THREE Stages in the Program Timeline that a Mentor would help the child with: 1️⃣ Preparation: This is where the child registers, and their workbook/materials are distributed. (Registration for youth participants will be in February) 2️⃣ Implementation: There are 4 learning sessions that we will host. Each session covers important material, such as: What being an entrepreneur is, how to set a goal, how to make a business plan, how to find a business partner and/or an investor, product development, advertising, budgeting, and action steps. The last session is a post event wrap-up where we reflect on results of their official "Lemonade Day" event (which will be held on June 1st), review their accounting, and build future plans. 3️⃣ Wrap-up: They submit their individual business results online to the Lemonade Day Website and enter to win Nationwide Prizes. 🍋What does the sponsorship money go towards? : Each dollar we receive towards Lemonade Day is tax deductible and goes towards material packets for each "stand". For example, a $10 contribution sponsors 1 child/1 lemonade stand. A $50 contribution sponsors 5 children/5 lemonade stands. CALLING ALL ARTISTS! 🎨 We're kicking off a new seasonal art competition and we want you to be a part of it! Starting NOW, we will be taking submissions for seasonal window art. We're partnering with our local businesses, and The Borger Chamber of Commerce to provide the window space, the paint, and three CASH prizes! Here's how to enter: 1️⃣Submit your drawing on an 11 X 17 poster board, to Deidra Thomas at City Hall BY November 23rd. 2️⃣On the back of your work: include your name, email address, and phone number. Write legibly. 3️⃣There is NO age requirement; however, you MUST be able to recreate your work on a large window. The window sizes will vary. Here's what you need to know:👇 📍The Business Owners will pick which work they want on their windows. 📍You can choose any theme that goes with the Holiday season. 📍You can submit more than one design. 📍Painting will start on November 30th (we will work with you on your schedule) 📍Windows must be completed by December 8th. 📍Winners will be announced by December 15th. 📍Prizes include~ 1st Place= $500, 2nd Place=$250, 3rd Place= $100 📍Next contest will start in March.
