City of Borger and Texas Historical Commission to Host First Lady Tour on May 27

Borger event to showcase downtown revitalization and community engagement

BORGER, Texas May 20th, 2026 — The City of Borger, in partnership with the Texas Historical Commission, will host a stop on the First Lady of Texas Main Street Tour on Wednesday, May 27, at 3 p.m. The event will spotlight downtown revitalization, community engagement, and the role of historic preservation and the Texas Main Street Program in shaping Borger’s future.

“Borger is proud to be part of the First Lady’s Tour and to showcase the vision and momentum behind our downtown revitalization efforts,” said Nicole Chavez. “This event will help shine a light on the work happening in our community and the importance of continued partnership and investment.”

The Borger event will feature a combination indoor and outdoor format, with the speaking portion taking place in a closed-off section of the street and additional activities in the City Council chambers and lobby space at Borger City Hall, located at 600 N. Main St. RSVP is required for attendance.

The First Lady’s Tour is supported by the Independent Bankers Association of Texas, which has been a sponsor of the Texas Main Street Program for more than 30 years. The tour is intended to celebrate local progress of new Main Street cities while bringing attention to the partnerships that support downtown revitalization efforts across Texas communities. The event will provide an opportunity for residents, stakeholders, and partners to participate in a meaningful community event.

The program will include remarks from local and state partners, recognition of community efforts in the Main Street program, and an opportunity to highlight Borger’s ongoing work to strengthen and activate its downtown spaces.
