1. Hutchinson County Museum’s Secret Exhibit Room

While many visitors explore the main exhibits at the Hutchinson County Historical Museum, few know about the rotating special collections tucked away in the back rooms. Ask a staff member about the latest hidden treasures on display!

2. The Hutchinson County Airport

Overlooking the scenic Canadian River Valley, the Hutchinson County Airport isn't what you'd expect to find in Borger, Texas. With its state-of-the-art amenities, and frequent celebrity visitors, this airport is a MUST stop!

3. Hidden Nature Trails

Most visitors to Johnson Park Youth Center stick to the main recreation area, but those in the know seek out the Nature trails. Whether you choose to go down the beaten path or hop onto the Chad Alan Foster Memorial Trail System to ride / walk, these peaceful spots offer breathtaking views and excellent wildlife-watching opportunities. Our favorite time of day to hit up the trails? Sunset!

4. The War Memorial at Huber Park

Tucked away inside of Huber Park, this powerful memorial will render you speechless. It’s a great spot for reflection, curiosity, and patriotism.

5. Coffee under the pergola on Main Street

Borger’s coffee scene is growing, and some of the best cups of joe can be found in unexpected places. Keep an eye out for pop-up coffee bars or hidden menu items at local cafés that only regulars know about! Then... take your coffee to-go! Head over to the 400 block of Main Street (between Hipshots and the 806 Lounge). Beautiful twinkle lights, a pergola, and plenty of seating, await!

6. Historic Downtown Buildings

Take a walk through Borger’s downtown and spot the buildings that tell the story of the town’s boomtown past. Buildings like the old Borger Hotel, an old Parachute Factory, or even the old Post Office. Many of these buildings are awaiting revitalization... could you be the next buyer?

7. The Dome Civic and Convention Center

This multipurpose facility ALWAYS has something going on. From corporate meetings and parties to Comic-Con's and chili cook offs! Swing by to see its incredible transformation, as of 2022.

8. The Johnson Park Youth Center

The recently renovated Johnson Park Youth Center and Pool is home to an incredible family friendly facility, with sports, a rock-climbing wall, multiple video gaming set ups, concessions, and so much more! The pool season opens up at the end of May 2025. Stay tuned for 2026... we'll be adding some new play areas to the mix!

9. Old Oilfield Relics and Pumpjacks

Take a drive through the outskirts of town and you'll stumble upon forgotten pumpjacks, abandoned derricks, and other relics of Borger’s oil boom days. It’s a fascinating look at the industry that built the city.

10. The ‘Haunted’ Borger Tunnels

Urban legends surround an old underground tunnel downtown that once connected several businesses to local banks. Many locals claim to hear eerie sounds and ghostly sightings.
