Growing season graphic

As the growing season approaches, we need YOUR help in keeping our residents safe, and our neighborhoods in good shape. Below, are important ways you can contribute:

Keep your grass and weeds below 12 inches. This includes your alleyway, from your property line to the center of the easement. Tall grass creates a breeding ground for ticks, fleas, and other pests. The shade also attracts snakes. If your yard struggles with weeds, consider using a weed mitigating agent before the growing season begins. Tall grass/weeds can also serve as fuel for accidental fires. Don’t have the equipment? Call us! We have a Lawn Care Kit you can borrow, for FREE!

Don’t let your tree trimmings and lawn clippings pile up! Swing by the Limb Pile (Hwy 152) and drop them off. You can also call the Transfer Station at 806-273-0977 to schedule a pickup for small amounts. Leaving them next to the dumpster can damage our garbage trucks. Letting them accumulate creates a nice home for mice, snakes, and also serves as fire fuel.

Don’t let junk accumulate on or around your property! Call the Transfer Station for a FREE Bulk Refuse Trailer. You fill the trailer up; we haul it off. 806-273-0977. You can also rid yourself of junk during one of our Neighborhood Cleanups. Another option is to take the junk to the transfer station yourself, at 920 Florida Street. The transfer station can also take your construction materials. The first 1000 lbs. are free, after that it is $52.50/ton. Passenger tires are accepted as well, at $2 each.

Make sure all TRASH gets into the DUMPSTERS. Failure to do so results in insect breeding, and an increase in vagrants. Plus, it goes EVERYWHERE when the wind blows.

Call us to report a violation, at 806-273-0910. Our goal isn’t to issue violations. It’s to educate the public on the safety and wellbeing of our community. No one wants an unexpected fire to destroy their home, or a venomous snake bite, or a mice/insect infestation. But these things easily happen when we fail to maintain our properties.

Thank you for your commitment to making Borger a better place to live!
