Wildland Fire

Did you know we have a Wildland Firefighting Team? Well, we do! And they're incredible! Borger Fire Department's Wildland Fire Mitigation Team is ranked 👏SECOND👏 in the Nation for Wildland Fire Risk Reduction with the IAFC Wildland Achievement Management System!

Our Wildland Firefighters are trained professionals who work to suppress and control wildfires in natural environments such as forests, grasslands, and other areas. This Team plays a crucial role in managing and mitigating the impact of wildfires on our ecosystems, wildlife, and communities. Their primary duty is to actively fight wildfires, and also prevent them. This involves constructing firebreaks, using controlled burns, and employing various firefighting techniques to contain and extinguish flames. They often work in coordination with other firefighting agencies, local authorities, and sometimes even international teams during large wildfires. They work in challenging and hazardous conditions, including steep terrain, unpredictable weather, and exposure to smoke and flames.

Join us in saying Congratulations! 👏
