Hutchinson County Historical Museum
Honored as Top Western Museum by True West Magazine!
In Borger, TX, a museum stands that tells the story of the Texas Panhandle—from cattle
to oil to Indian fighting.

That is one reason Hutchinson County Historical Museum is #8 among True West
Magazine’s 2023 Top Western Museums. They will be featured in the September 2023
issue, hitting newsstands on August 15, 2023. Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the
West took top honors.

Archaeology, geology, paleontology and the stories of Francisco Vasquez de Coronado
are among the many content areas at the museum. Visitors also have a chance to learn
about some of the people who have formed the area's history.

“The Hutchinson County Historical Museum tells the tales of one of the Old West’s key
areas and eras,” says True West Executive Editor Bob Boze Bell. “It has done an amazing
job in preserving Old West history and culture and presenting it to the world. There’s no
question: Hutchinson County is a Top Western Museum.”

This is the 18th year True West has presented this annual award. Editors, led by Candy
Moulton, base their selection on criteria evaluating exhibits, facilities, multi-media and
online accessibility, events, and promotion of historic/cultural resources.

True West magazine is in its 70th year of leading the way in presenting the true stories of
Old West adventure, history, culture and preservation. For subscriptions and more
