Men holding fish

A fish caught near Borger shattered the state state record.

Levi Wagner and his brother, Kyler, were fishing Sunday at Crackling J Ranch when Levi reeled in a rather large green sunfish.

They took the fish to SharKens Honeyhole & RV to be weighed a measured.

The fish weighed 2lbs 2.88oz and was 12 1/8" long with a 13 5/8" girth.

That beats the old state record, set in 2005, by nearly a pound.

According to Texas Parks & Wildlife, Billy Oldigs caught a 1lbs 3oz, 11" long green sunfish Burke-Crenshaw Lake near Houston.
